This is our mission:

To Know Christ and To Make Him Known

Our Values

The following is a list of Values which we intend to uphold and demonstrate without compromise:

  • We believe Jesus to be preeminent over all that is. Therefore, living lives in a manner which reflect the preeminence of Christ is paramount to all true believers. He is Lord of all whether mankind recognizes this truth or not. This means He is the Master. By His death, burial, and resurrection, we are not our own. We are bought with the price of His suffering and death and are affirmed as such by the glory of His resurrection. (Romans 10:9-10)

  • The Scriptures, properly understood, are the measuring rod by which all spiritual truth is revealed. Our Lord has provided the Scriptures as the written record of who He is, His purposes, and His teachings. We do not believe this written record is false, misleading, or that it contains errors. The Scriptures are never irrelevant. The Scriptures are truth and are profitable to all people for reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

  • We desire to be a people of honesty both in our personal as well as our corporate testimonies. We want to demonstrate a trustworthiness. This requires saying what we mean, meaning what we say, and living as examples of what we believe. This is the example given to us by our Lord. Thus, we will seek never to compromise His truth, our faith, or our commitments. (1 John 1:7-10)

  • We believe that a sense of corporate community and identity is biblical. This requires that we accept one another as people who have sometimes succeeded and have also often failed. We will celebrate the victories of success together. Likewise, we will forgive, encourage, restore, and help to rebuild those who fall short, as directed by the Scriptures. Our mutual commitment to our Lord Jesus, one another, our Mission, Vision, and Values, are intended to demonstrate our commitment to Christ’s teachings and His revelations of His purposes, grace, truth, and righteousness. (Philippians 2:1-4)

  • The members of Open Door Baptist Church do not consider themselves to be better people. Instead, we humbly recognize that we are all sinners saved by the grace of God. Therefore, we seek to demonstrate our Mission and Vision in a manner which brings pleasure to the heart of God, not for any self-exaltation, personal gain, or selfish recognition. We will reach out in compassion to all people, but our doors and arms are especially open to those who would consider joining us in bringing pleasure to the heart of God by accomplishing our Mission and Vision and reflecting our Values. (1 Peter 5:7-7)

Our Vision

With a passionate desire to be good stewards of the above Mission, it is the Vision of Open Door Baptist Church to pursue excellence in the following areas of ministry:

  • We desire to be used of God to share the Gospel of Christ’s Kingdom with all people— locally, nationally, and globally. We want to encourage all people to trust and surrender to the message of hope, forgiveness, and grace which Jesus has revealed in the Scripture, through His teachings, His death, burial, and resurrection.

  • Our objective for Discipleship is to present to our Lord every person as pursuing spiritual maturity. This maturity is defined as being sufficiently equipped, fully devoted followers of Christ, demonstrating a faith that includes an endless passion for personal spiritual growth, while intentionally developing others toward the pursuit of that spiritual maturity.

  • We long for and will encourage all believers to enjoy quality times of consistent personal worship and equally excellent corporate worship that focuses on the declaration and celebration of the exceeding, preeminent worthiness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

  • We long to partner, individually and collectively, with our Lord Jesus and His purposes. Thus, we intend to demonstrate an excellence of unity based on our devotion to our Lord, our love and loyalty to one another, and our dedication to mutual efforts and common commitments.

  • We seek to be compassionate, self-sacrificial servants of our Lord Jesus by seeking to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of one another and our community, as directed by the Scriptures. We believe our Lord directs us to strive for excellence and selflessness in the meeting of such needs. It is by such ministry that many will be drawn to, or become more deeply committed to, the message and purposes of our Lord and Savior.

Our Beliefs

The Bible, God’s word to us, makes clear that certain truths are essential convictions of the Christian faith. We consider these to be the following:

  • There is one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

    Gen. 1:1, 26-27; Ps. 90:2; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14

  • Jesus Christ is our Savior, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for all sin, and was raised from the grave after three days to demonstrate His defeat of sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will return to earth to reign as our powerful King.

    Matt. 1:22-23; John 1:1-5; Heb.14-15; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; Col. 2:9-10; 1 Tim. 6:14-15

  • The Holy Spirit serves as our comforter, guide and advocate. The Holy Spirit is given to Christians and provides guidance in living, an understanding of the Bible, and prayerful intercession.

    Acts 1:8; John 14:16-17, 16:7-13; Gal. 5:25; 1 Cor. 2:12, 3:16; Eph. 1:13; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2

  • The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, given to man so that we may know and understand the truth of God and his love.

    2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Ps. 12:6, 119:105

  • Salvation is not something that can be purchased or earned. It is a free gift from God provided by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, and is received through faith.

It is available to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.

    John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Rom. 5:10, 6:23, 10:10; Eph. 2:8-10
